Growing up in Portland, Maine, Kirk graduated from Cheverus High School and the University of Maine with a BS in Business. After working for commercial general contractors in Massachusetts and Maine, he co-founded MW Hoss.
Matt Hossfeld
Co-Founder
Matt spent summers building houses with his dad before earning a BS in Engineering and Construction Management from the University of Maine. After a decade in commercial construction, he co-founded MW Hoss.
Chad Merritt
Carpenter
Chad graduated from UMaine with a BS in Construction Management and an AS in Civil Engineering Technology. He has worked in commercial construction since 1998, specializing in project management, estimating, and preconstruction. After reconnecting with Kirk and Matt, he joined MW Hoss in 2020.
Darlene Ruck
Carpenter
Darlene, Business/Operations Manager at MW Hoss, previously worked with Kirk, Matt, and Chad. With experience in architecture and construction, she enjoys the dynamic side of the industry. Outside of work, she explores Maine and New Hampshire with her husband on their motorcycle.
Colin O’Leary
Carpenter
Born in Detroit, Colin grew up spending summers in Maine and moved here 15 years ago. With years of trade experience, he values MW Hoss’s dedication to quality. Outside work, he creates music and performs in an improv storytelling group.
Dylan Hosmer
Carpenter
Dylan joined MW Hoss in 2018 with a background in construction and landscaping. He admires the creativity of the trade. Outside of work, he enjoys boating, surfing, and playing guitar. He lives in Westbrook with his wife, son, and cat.
Luke Bennett
Carpenter
Luke, known as Bennett, grew up in Gorham, Maine, and has been passionate about carpentry since framing his first home. When not working with wood, he enjoys motocross around Maine.
Thomas Lord
Carpenter
Thomas graduated from UMaine and began working with a local Portland builder, where he developed a passion for carpentry’s problem-solving challenges. He spends free time with friends, family, or aground in Casco Bay, waiting for the tide.
Ryan Junkins

Ryan, from Standish, transitioned to MW Hoss after years in landscape and hardscape installations. He enjoys new challenges, creative work, and being part of a great team.
Anthony Passmore
Carpenter
Anthony, or Tony, is a Portland native with a BS in Construction Management and Business from UMaine. He has worked in Maine and Massachusetts and enjoys time with his wife, dog, golfing, running, and relaxing at the lake.
Josh Frechette
Carpenter
Josh brings seven years of commercial maintenance experience to MW Hoss. With a family background in boat building and rentals, he values hands-on work and self-reliance. Outside of work, he enjoys family time, gardening, and tinkering with projects.
Ryan Clancy
Carpenter
Ryan, originally from Connecticut, loves Maine’s mountains and outdoor lifestyle. He enjoys carpentry’s hands-on problem-solving and leads the Portland GAA, a Gaelic football and hurling club.
John Kane

After nine years in Boston construction, John moved to Maine in 2021 for the mountains. A passionate skier and hobbyist guitar builder, he finds carpentry rewarding and creatively fulfilling.
Parker Lane

Parker, a former welder, transitioned to carpentry and enjoys the creativity it offers. A husband and father, he loves mountain biking, surfing, and outdoor adventures.
Andrew Moro

Drew moved to Maine in 2019 and has been working in the trades since. He appreciates carpentry’s challenges and variety. Outside of work, he enjoys creating art and music.
Lucas diMajo

Lucas, a Portland native, loves photography, surfing, and working with his hands. Carpentry offers him a creative outlet to bring new and old projects to life.
Thomas (Pele) McShane
Carpenter
Pele has over a decade of experience in trades, including carpentry, stone walling, excavation, and solar installation. He enjoys exploring Maine with his dog Toast or playing Irish music.
Scott Sjoberg
Carpenter
Scott, with a military background in heavy equipment, earned a BS in Construction Management and an AS in Building Construction. He has experience in industrial and residential construction and enjoys hiking, snowmobiling, and camping.
Andrew Theriault
Carpenter
Andrew, from Portland, recently graduated from Paths High School, where he studied carpentry. Now at MW Hoss, he spends his free time with friends, fishing, 4-wheeling, and playing video games.
